CD File Sharing

The concept of CD File Sharing is that people, the 'requester' IM or email others asking for a list of all the mp3, mpg, mpeg, mov, avi, and all other media files the 'lister' has, in the formats of:

MP3: Artist - Song Title.mp3 [Note: MP3 files should have the Artist, Title, and if possible the Album correctly filled out.]
MPG/MPEG/AVI/MOV (Music Video): MV - Artist - Song Title.mpg, mpeg, mov or avi (MV stands for Music Video)
MPG/MPEG/AVI/MOV (TV Show): Show Title - Episode Name.mpg, mpeg, mov or avi
MPG/MPEG/AVI/MOV (Other): Title.mpg, mpeg, mov or avi (Just the title for other video files)
[Note: The filenames themselves should have the same format as the lists.]

The lists should be separated by a new line, like:
Artist - Song Title.mp3
Artist 2 - Song Title 2.mp3
and so forth.

Others can look at the listers lists, then IM or email the listers and ask if they will burn a CD with the files the requester wants. The lister will then send the CD in the mail or by a carrier service to the requester. When the listers create the CD they will post, email, or IM a MD5 file to the requester with the MD5 values of all the files on the CD. The lister can generate the MD5 values using a free program from MD5 Summer's site. The MD5 file will be posted on a web site. The URL will be printed on the CD in human-readable format. The URL should be in this: http://www.domainname.com/directories/filename.md5 format.
[Note: If you print it on normal paper and use Scotch tape to attach it to the CD, be sure that it is securely placed on the CD. Also, be sure you have it in the correct place before you stick it down, or else you will mess up the CD when you remove the tape.]

When the requester receives the CD they will download the MD5 Summer, download the MD5 file and verify the files on the CD.

Possible Issues & Legal Problems:

1. CD File Sharing is that it could be considered mail-fraud.
If you rip a audio cd or download MP3s and make a custom data cd from the MP3 files,
with the intent of sending the CD to someone could be illegal and then using the US mail
system to send it, it could be mail-fraud. If the songs are not from the same CD/artist,
then that could be multiple counts of mail-fraud. If the CD was mailed internationally,
it might be International Mail-Fraud.

2. There has to be a list of users or users must have lists of files,
both of which could be used by the RIAA and other organizations to prosecute users.

3. One more problem is the users would have to be willing to burn a CD with the
files the other user wants and make a MD5 file, which can be time consuming.
